SCRITTI POLITTI
IN THEIR OWN WORDS
-- Star Hits, 1986
I have a very ordinary Christian name--especially in this country. When I was
sixteen I decided one day to change it to something else. I was in a train and
it was the middle of summer and everything was as green as it gets so I thought
'well, ok, Green.' Everybody started calling me by it--my mother calls my
Green now.
--Green, October, 1984
I'm not always the most outgoing of people. I mean I'm not bad, but...
--Green, October, 1984
I'm really not sure where I fit in.
--Green, October, 1984
It shouldn't be forgotten, I'm the great pretender. I'm nothing special.
--Green, October, 1984
If you'd played me 'Wood Beez' six years ago I would have spat at you or
something. But I like change.
--Green, February, 1986
When I was little I had quite a big thing about it. The texture and smell of
white chocolate is quite beautiful. I can't really explain what I like about
it...it's just milky and sickly and dangerous.
--Green, June, 1985
I never wanted to be a pop star and I never want to be a pop star! I
wanted to be a musician all my life, though.
--Dave Gamson, February, 1986
You develop a taste for England. Now, the tea in America tastes terrible to me.
--Fred Maher, February, 1986
Fred and David are both very diligent, patient, attentive and constructive.
They're also proper pals.
--Green, February, 1986
